Why most patios fail (and why ours don't)
Thin base
Budget installs use 2-3 inches of base. We use 6-8 inches of compacted crushed stone screeded flat in lifts — the only way to guarantee no settling on Fort Worth clay.
No edge restraint
Without a concrete or steel edge holding the field, outer pavers shift and gap within a year. We install edge restraint on every perimeter.
No drainage
We slope every patio surface to drain and add subsurface drainage where the grade or soil requires it — so water never pools on or under the patio.
Wrong joint material
Standard sand washes out and becomes a weed bed. We use polymeric joint sand that locks in place and resists both weeds and fire ants.
